I want to state, for the record, that it bugs the hell out of me when someone says “men are scum”.
From straight women it’s as offensive as stereotyping a creed or a race — there’s really no excuse for it. A man treated you badly, you say? Several men? Gosh, it’s a good that no woman ever did you any harm or you’d hate the whole planet.
Above: Looks like no one I know.
Guys spout the same line for different reasons. Some do it to seem evolved and perhaps to increase the chance of getting laid. This contrite “I’m really a scoundrel” attitude is like crack for some women. Other men want to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. It’s easier to blame bad behavior on genetics or hormones than to stand up and say “this isn’t cool, I need to change.”
Men, women, genderqueer, gender-fluid, or straight-up hermaphroditic people, know this. Some men are scum. So are some of the members from any category listed above. Asshattery is a choice.
